Whilst lifting a structural steel frame one of two soft slings fixed to the head of the frame failed allowing one side of the frame to fall approx 400mm vertically onto the ground. The second soft sling then failed because it was carrying the whole weight of the frame dropping it to the ground. The frame then toppled onto the AC100 Mobile crane, becoming wedged at an approx. 30 deg against the main boom ram. The operator was not injured.

Site emergency procedures were implemented and all personnel accounted for. Notifications and the securing of the scene began immediately once safety assessments had been carried out.
