Working Groups

Working groups have been formed to develop solutions to industry-wide health and safety issues. The working groups in progress are noted below. Once a working group has completed their task the outcomes from the group are published as guidelines.

StayLive Competency Tool is Live!

StayLive has partnered with JNCTN to develop an industry-wide, cloud-based competency tool. This tool replaces the Green Competence Passbook and has been agreed by all members of StayLive that it will be the agreed form of 'competency currency' across all our generation facilities. For individuals this means a more complete, interactive, and accurate tool for managing your training records and competencies, which you can take with you - wherever you are and whoever you work for.

Latest News

Genesis, Meridian, Nova, Pou Limited and Vertical Horizons have taken the lead in registering their staff; with Contact, Mercury, Manawa and other key private training organisations expected to follow in the first half of 2023. Two of our key contracting companies, MB Century and Electrix, have been testing the SCT onboarding processes, from a contractors perspective, with learnings now incorporated into the improved tool and supporting processes.

It is anticipated that the majority of asset owner companies and key contracting companies will be onboarded by the end of 2023 and we will be looking back thinking “why didn’t we do this earlier?”. Check out this video link to learn more.

We recognise that this may be a significant change for some people/organisations, however, the team at StayLive and JNCTN are here to support you as you onboard the SCT and get used to this digital way of working with competencies across the industry.

The benefits of going digital via the SCT for competencies cannot be overstated for individuals and organisations alike. These include:

  • ability to capture and share competency information, alongside training records;
  • a robust, portable, secure and efficient digital solution;
  • digital transfer of training and competency information into other IT systems, such as learning management systems, site security systems and work controls;
  • reduced duplication of training effort, associated costs and frustration;
  • reduced administration time with processing training records; and
  • financial savings (direct and indirect costs) to the sector of >$10 million per year.

To register as an individual go to https://staylive.jnctn.nz/register/ JNCTN's Video Guide will step you through the process.

Costs

StayLive has secured a great deal for our sector with a cost of $120/person/year*. Asset owner companies anticipate that contracting companies will pass on any additional costs associated with the SCT through their overhead costs, however, over time we expecting a significant overall saving in training and administration costs as described above.

* Note – The cost is subject to periodic review by StayLive and JNCTN and may even reduce as the total number of individuals and organisations using the platform increases.
