Guidelines

Guidelines are the published outcomes from the working groups. They aim to improve practices and consistency across the electricity industry.

Fitness for Work

This StayLive document seeks to broaden thinking around the management of Fitness for Work by sharing some guidance based on best practice we have observed both within and outside of the electricity generation sector.

Overview

To produce this guideline, the StayLive Fitness for Work Working Group identified six key elements associated with Fitness for Work: workplace systems and culture; fatigue; stress; physical impairment; use of drugs and alcohol and the ageing workforce. Paying attention to these six elements will help maximise Fitness for Work within an oganisation. As there is often more than one factor influencing a person's Fitness for Work; it is important to look holistically to understand a Fitness for Work issue.

Content

Each of these elements is examined with respect to workplace management, planning considerations, leading indicators and questions to ask both your organisation and/or workforce as applicable.

Some helpful websites and texts are also identified.
