Faulty Karabiner

Description:
A worker was preparing to work from an EWP. While checking his fall arrest harness and lanyard he discovered the karabiner was difficult to operate. He freed the latch using lubricant but the latch failed to spring back into the locked position. The worker tagged the lanyard 'out of service' and returned it to his leader for follow up with the manufacturer.
