This includes, reviewing and updating Part 6 of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010, establishing standardised technical settings and requirements for connection; and establishing common connection processes to be used by all EDBs.
In this joint project, the Electricity Authority (EA), Electricity Networks Aotearoa (ENA) and the EEA are working together to improve the consistency and efficiency of network connections across the country. The work includes reviewing and updating Part 6 of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010, establishing standardised technical settings and requirements for connection, and establishing common connection processes to be used by all EDBs.
In September 2024, the project hosted a half-day workshop at EEA2024 to discuss the combined work plan and seek industry feedback including any potential issues that needed to be considered, to improve the connection process for DER and large loads into the New Zealand’s energy system.
